What is AA ?
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor
opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.
Recovery From Alcoholism – AA Way
In the battle against alcohol addiction, finding a supportive community and effective tools can make all the difference. This is where Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) steps in, offering a beacon of hope and guidance for those seeking sobriety. With its timeless principles and supportive network, AA has transformed countless lives, helping individuals reclaim their freedom from the grips of alcoholism.
At the heart of AA lies the belief in the power of fellowship and shared experiences. In AA meetings, individuals gather to share their struggles, triumphs, and insights in a non-judgmental environment. This sense of camaraderie fosters a deep sense of belonging, reminding members that they are not alone in their journey towards sobriety.
12 Twelve Step Program of Recovery
One of the cornerstones of AA is its Twelve Step program, which provides a structured path towards recovery. These steps encourage self-reflection, spiritual growth, and personal accountability, guiding individuals towards a life free from the shackles of addiction.
Whether you’re taking your first steps into sobriety or have been on the path for years, the Twelve Steps offer a roadmap for transformation and renewal.
Originally taken from Oxford Group, 12 step program is foundation of Alcoholics Anonymous recovery and solution for alcoholism.
Bill W. – The founder member of AA writes in AA comes of Age about oxford group –
“Early A.A. got its ideas of self-examination, acknowledgment of character defects, restitution for harm done, and working with others straight from the Oxford Group and directly from Sam Shoemaker, their former leader in America, and from nowhere else.”
